BOXES (ALL CASTS)

Each cast member needs a lidded “Bankers Box” marked with FIRST AND LAST NAME and cast letter (L, A, B, C, D, E) or Full Cast Name on all four sides AND the top.  Copy Paper Boxes or other types of boxes will NOT WORK.

BATBBox

This box will be used throughout tech week and the performances to store personal items including clothing, shoes, hair brush, and water bottle. Your child is welcome to decorate the outside of their box as long as their information is clearly legible as noted above. Decorating your box in a unique way will make it easier to find quickly! Some kids like to use wrapping paper or duct tape!

We will be selling Bankers Boxes (while supplies last) at rehearsals for $2 each (cash). If your child plans to do more SCPA shows, they can reuse this same box over and over!

TECH REHEARSAL AND PERFORMANCE

Tech rehearsals are MANDATORY and are dress rehearsals.  Be sure to bring your box each day of tech.

COME DRESSED IN YOUR UNDERCLOTHES FOR ALL FITTINGS/TECH/SHOWS. Please wear your LEGALLY BLONDE SHIRT and pants or long leggings OVER your underclothes to Tech Rehearsals. You will need to put these clothes back ON to eat meals. After getting into your costume, please immediately put your regular clothes in your box so they are not lost. LABEL YOUR LEGALLY BLONDE T-SHIRT so it does not get lost.

Bring the following items in your box to tech rehearsals:

  • Black Jazz shoes

  • SCRIPT!!!!  Very Important!!!

  • Any clothing items you have been asked to bring by the Costume Department

  • Limit make-up to only what is absolutely necessary.  A small zip-lock bag with your child’s name written on it is recommended if they will be bringing makeup with them.  Only adults are allowed to apply makeup to Lambda, Alpha and Bravo casts.

  • Hairbrush

  • Deodorant

  • BRING LOTS OF WATER!!!! (Please label with your name)

  • SALTINE CRACKERS or PLAIN PRETZELS ONLY

Do NOT pack:

  • Drinks other than water

  • Snacks other than Saltines or Plain Pretzels. All other snacks will be confiscated.

  • Perfume or scented lotion

  • Valuables (electronic devices, jewelry, etc…)

DO NOT LEAVE ANY TECH REHEARSAL OR PERFORMANCE
WITH ANY SCPA COSTUME PIECES IN YOUR BOX!!!  Unless you own it, leave it with us!
If it is in your box, we can’t use it for the next cast!

IF YOUR CHILD IS DOING TWO SHOWS IN A ROW (with no other cast in between) HE/SHE WILL LEAVE THEIR BOX AT THE THEATER WITH COSTUME INSIDE.

Phone use/texting by the cast is only permitted during breaks.
We will confiscate phones if they become a problem.

VOLUNTEER INFORMATION

South County Performing Arts is an all-volunteer organization.  We rely on each of our SCPA families to help put on these amazing shows!  Thanks in advance for all your hard work!  We ask that the parent(s)/legal guardians put in a minimum of 3 hours per cast member or 6 hours per family of volunteer time to support the show. All volunteer hours must be fulfilled by the parent(s)/legal guardians of the cast member. For safety reasons, cast members and/or siblings are not allowed to attend during the volunteering time. We realize that some parents are unable to provide volunteer hours because of busy schedules, work obligations or childcare conflicts.  For this reason, we allow a volunteer buy-out option for $50 (or $100 for 2+ kids) payable in our web store so we can hire someone to work in your place.

The following positions are available for Tech Week & Shows.

– Concessions, Candy Grams, Will Call Tickets, Door Monitor, Usher and After Show Clean Up are great positions to volunteer the day of the performance you are attending. These roles are done before the show, at intermission, and after the show allowing you to always be in your seat during the actual performance.

– In order to work Backstage, the Green Room (boys or girls) you must attend at least one Tech Rehearsal to learn the ropes. It’s highly recommended you attend more than one Tech Rehearsal (especially for the younger casts) if possible. Please refer to the list of important dates calendar for those tech rehearsals as well as the Sign Up Genius for Volunteering for shows includes all of the tech rehearsals as well.

CALL TIMES FOR VOLUNTEERS

  • Will Call and Door Monitors – 45 minutes before show

  • Ushers – 45 minutes before show

  • Hair/Makeup and Green Room – CALL TIME

  • Concessions and Candy Grams – 45 minutes before show

  • After Show Cleanup – 15 minutes before show ends

Please consider working green room positions for other Casts to free up parents to watch all their kid’s shows.

We will begin calling families to find out what positions they can help with!

Please send an email to: scpavolunteerteam@gmail.com with any additional questions. Karen Hughes will answer any questions or concerns you may have.  Thanks!

VOLUNTEER GUIDELINES

  • All volunteers must check in with our VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR to receive a badge.  There will be individuals on the Production Team when you arrive wearing shirts that say “Production Team” on them that you will ask whom the Volunteer Coordinator is for that show when you arrive to check in.

  • Only volunteers with badges will be allowed to work. Only volunteers signed up to work backstage can pass by the door monitor.

  • You must work at least one tech rehearsal in order to work backstage.  We will not be able to train on show days.

  • If you are working GREEN ROOM, ALL black clothing and closed-toe shoes required.  (Think comfortable!)

  • No perfume or scented lotions backstage.

  • Do not post pictures or video of the production/rehearsal on social media until after the show.  We would love to save a bit of the “magic”.
